Oh wow your waist is gorgeously trim, very appropriate, I think. The pleating is very nice, too. I love that it's not super extravagant, most people make a costume and try to make themselves super elaborate nobility. Yours is much more realistic.

thank you! i completely agree; some of the dresses i've admired the most have been simple, more middle class dresses because they just look so real!

And isn't reality what we're trying to imitate? I mean, if you wanted to look cheap and vaguely period effective, you'd just head to the costume store around Halloween and buy some flammable faux stretch-fabric piece of crap and some skanky high heels. :P
